off with his tail.....

Poor Ace has been having some trouble with his tail lately, so we had to take a trip to the vet this morning to see why he has started trying to chew it off.  Apparnetly once a dog gets a taste for their own tail, they cant seem to stop themselves. Even if the dog's tail fully heals, he is still susceptible to falling back into the same behavioral problem as before.  More often than not, cutting the tail off is recommended.  It didnt take us long to make the decision seeing how we have all suffered the effects of Ace's whipping tail. I think even Ace is sick of hitting it on the walls & furniture, not to mention the raft of shit he has to take from Chico when he hits him with it.  I mean, he was the one to start chewing it off.  I think we get the point. So long destructive, menacing tail.....

Become one with Nature......... Then Marinade it.

Sunday was such a beautiful fall day, it had just the right amounts of brisk air & sun and was the type of day that you just had to get outside and take advantage of, despite how much wine you had drank at the plant swap the day before. We decided to hike through the woods to where our neighbor constructed a rather large two person tree stand behind our house this fall and become one with nature. We got to hear the leaves crunch beneath our feet, climb the treestand, watch for deer, and just experience the peace of the woods on such a delicious day.

While we were doing that, Kelly shot her very first deer. Someone’s gotta put meat in the freezer. Bad@ss.

it moved me....

show me yours & i'll show you mine...

D hosted her second plant swap of the year on Saturday. The concept is simple. Bring a plant, get a plant. I brought a Christmas cactus & left with venison sausage & 3 pieces of jerky, but whatevs. Everyone had a great time and got to get something new for their garden without having to spend any money. Rain threatened the day, but we had wine and miniature cucumber sandwiches, so who could stop us??

love unmatched....

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill
